My name is Helen Ross, and I will be your
My name is Helen Ross, and I will be your host for today is kind of like a special report that I'm doing today, just because I was listening to the news and it was like, literally
-
all over the place that I have looked today, or
all over the place that I have looked today, or maybe it was just me cuz I'm in the holiday buying mode
-
And so I have selective attention to watch out for
And so I have selective attention to watch out for these kinds of things
-
And a lot of people are shopping online and buying
And a lot of people are shopping online and buying physical goods from retailers, like Amazon and other websites, the scammers are now targeting those major retailers and shipping companies like FedEx, UPS, DHL, and USPS, and
-
What they are doing or sending out emails, that look
What they are doing or sending out emails, that look like they came from Amazon and UPS and FedEx in The Lakes
-
This is called fishing and the emails, look very professional
This is called fishing and the emails, look very professional and legitimate from wherever they claim to be from
-
There's a problem with your order or there is a
There's a problem with your order or there is a problem with the delivery of your package
-
And there's always a link in the email for you
And there's always a link in the email for you to click on that will lead you to the shipper or retailer website and it looks totally legitimate
-
Well, when someone clicks on the link or button in
Well, when someone clicks on the link or button in the email, it actually opens up
-
Portal for the scammer to hack the computer at the
Portal for the scammer to hack the computer at the user and take it over, including all of their data
-
And so many people have been at the mercy of
And so many people have been at the mercy of the scammers and ran somewhere to get their dad as back
-
That is another reason, why Bitcoin used to be regulated
That is another reason, why Bitcoin used to be regulated like all of the other currencies
-
My point is, that has happened to very smart people
My point is, that has happened to very smart people that I know too as well
-
You should always go to the Retailer's website and login
You should always go to the Retailer's website and login with your account
-
Also, Amazon have tracking where it tells you when you
Also, Amazon have tracking where it tells you when you can expect the delivery of your package
-
And if your package is lost or late, Amazon will
And if your package is lost or late, Amazon will give you a refund or replacement
-
You can also go directly to the app of these
You can also go directly to the app of these retailers and check on the status of your order
-
So, be careful when you're shopping for designer or high-end
So, be careful when you're shopping for designer or high-end items on Amazon
-
If I can help it because it always breaks on
If I can help it because it always breaks on me and I have no way to get an Easy Exchange
-
And yes, I have bought warranty plans, but the warranty
And yes, I have bought warranty plans, but the warranty plans are actually owned by a third party company, and it's terrible
-
I bought a vacuum cleaner one time on Amazon, and
I bought a vacuum cleaner one time on Amazon, and I actually bought a 4 years, warranty extended warranty for the vacuum cleaner and it within two months, it broke
-
When do I call the warranty? And guess what? They
When do I call the warranty? And guess what? They told me they told me that I had to wait for the warranty of the real warranty on the product to expire, before that warranty that I
-
I thought that kicked in on day one, which it
I thought that kicked in on day one, which it said on the listing in the website
-
They made me wait for the warranty from the original
They made me wait for the warranty from the original product to expire, which was in two years before they would even do anything about it
-
Why would I wait two years? So that to me
Why would I wait two years? So that to me right? There was a fail on Amazon part and also the third party, it was there for them just to make the extra money off of me
-
for find the warranty and never planning anybody to wait,
for find the warranty and never planning anybody to wait, two years out to go, get a new vacuum cleaner
-
Who does that? So, ever since that experience? I have
Who does that? So, ever since that experience? I have never ever ever bought another electronic item on Amazon
-
Princess, buying printers and other electronic items on Amazon with
Princess, buying printers and other electronic items on Amazon with extended warranty
-
And I've had the same thing happened to me where
And I've had the same thing happened to me where they make me wait for the original product warranty to expire before the additional warranty that that I bought even kicked in, even though the listing before
-
I bought, it said that it would kick in on
I bought, it said that it would kick in on the first day to cover the product
-
So that was a false advertisement right there, which I
So that was a false advertisement right there, which I brought it up to them and they didn't care
-
So I will never ever waste money on those extended
So I will never ever waste money on those extended warranty again, from Amazon
-
And they never and then ended up never replacing or
And they never and then ended up never replacing or fixing or refunding
-
They said that I have to ship D, vacuum cleaner
They said that I have to ship D, vacuum cleaner to some third-party repair facility that was gun
-
And I looked into it and the cost to ship
And I looked into it and the cost to ship that vacuum cleaner to that facility cost me more than the vacuum cleaner itself
-
So, why would I do that? And then you're responsible
So, why would I do that? And then you're responsible for shipping for the shipping fee, from the facility, back to you
-
So then again, I would rather go out and buy
So then again, I would rather go out and buy to vacuum cleaners for that price rather than getting a refurbished vacuum cleaner that I have to then again, pay twice for so
-
I think I mean, to me that's like a total
I think I mean, to me that's like a total no-brainer, but maybe some people are more courageous than Me and they actually go online and buy high-end expensive
-
Either there was a documentary and I forgot what channel
Either there was a documentary and I forgot what channel it was on, but I'm sure you can Google it and go on YouTube, and if I find it on YouTube, I will add that link down
-
And the documentary shows that they're there were a seller's
And the documentary shows that they're there were a seller's that were dumpster diving for food, stuff, food, supplements, and cosmetics items from retailers backdoor dumpsters, and then selling those items on Amazon
-
You why would you ever need to buy food items
You why would you ever need to buy food items from Amazon? Anyways, most local grocery stores now have apps and available grocery delivery services
-
You can even order online and pick up the items
You can even order online and pick up the items at the stores or the drive-thru
-
So anyways, I was just wanting to give you guys
So anyways, I was just wanting to give you guys a quick Special Report update

00:00:05Hi, welcome to today's podcast
-
00:00:08My name is Helen Ross, and I will be your host for today is kind of like a special report that I'm doing today, just because I was listening to the news and it was like, literally
-
00:00:20all over the place that I have looked today, or maybe it was just me cuz I'm in the holiday buying mode
-
00:00:25And so I have selective attention to watch out for these kinds of things
-
00:00:30But today on let's talk
-
00:00:33We are going to be talking about avoid being a scam victim
-
00:00:38And at the holidays, are coming up
-
00:00:40And a lot of people are shopping online and buying physical goods from retailers, like Amazon and other websites, the scammers are now targeting those major retailers and shipping companies like FedEx, UPS, DHL, and USPS, and
-
00:00:56all of such companies
-
00:00:58What they are doing or sending out emails, that look like they came from Amazon and UPS and FedEx in The Lakes
-
00:01:05This is called fishing and the emails, look very professional and legitimate from wherever they claim to be from
-
00:01:12And in the email it would always be something about
-
00:01:15There's a problem with your order or there is a problem with the delivery of your package
-
00:01:20And there's always a link in the email for you to click on that will lead you to the shipper or retailer website and it looks totally legitimate
-
00:01:28So you have no way of being alarmed
-
00:01:31Well, when someone clicks on the link or button in the email, it actually opens up
-
00:01:38Portal for the scammer to hack the computer at the user and take it over, including all of their data
-
00:01:45And so many people have been at the mercy of the scammers and ran somewhere to get their dad as back
-
00:01:51They always ask to be paid in Bitcoins to
-
00:01:55That is another reason, why Bitcoin used to be regulated like all of the other currencies
-
00:02:01My point is, that has happened to very smart people that I know too as well
-
00:02:06And there is a way to prevent all of this
-
00:02:09You should never click on the links in emails from your bank UPS
-
00:02:13Amazon, you know, all those websites
-
00:02:16You should always go to the Retailer's website and login with your account
-
00:02:21And then you can check on the status of your order
-
00:02:24Also, Amazon have tracking where it tells you when you can expect the delivery of your package
-
00:02:30And if your package is lost or late, Amazon will give you a refund or replacement
-
00:02:36No need to worry
-
00:02:37If your package will be lost or late
-
00:02:39You can also go directly to the app of these retailers and check on the status of your order
-
00:02:44So you don't even have to log into any websites
-
00:02:47Also, Amazon has been troubled with a counterfeit problem
-
00:02:51They have millions of merchants and they cannot regulate them all
-
00:02:54So, be careful when you're shopping for designer or high-end items on Amazon
-
00:02:59I never Buy electronics items on Amazon
-
00:03:02If I can help it because it always breaks on me and I have no way to get an Easy Exchange
-
00:03:07And yes, I have bought warranty plans, but the warranty plans are actually owned by a third party company, and it's terrible
-
00:03:14And I'm speaking from experience
-
00:03:16I bought a vacuum cleaner one time on Amazon, and I actually bought a 4 years, warranty extended warranty for the vacuum cleaner and it within two months, it broke
-
00:03:31Obviously
-
00:03:32I was over the 30 days return
-
00:03:34When do I call the warranty? And guess what? They told me they told me that I had to wait for the warranty of the real warranty on the product to expire, before that warranty that I
-
00:03:45bought that
-
00:03:45I thought that kicked in on day one, which it said on the listing in the website
-
00:03:50It said that it would kick in right away and it did it
-
00:03:53They made me wait for the warranty from the original product to expire, which was in two years before they would even do anything about it
-
00:04:03Why would I wait two years? So that to me right? There was a fail on Amazon part and also the third party, it was there for them just to make the extra money off of me
-
00:04:14for find the warranty and never planning anybody to wait, two years out to go, get a new vacuum cleaner
-
00:04:22Who does that? So, ever since that experience? I have never ever ever bought another electronic item on Amazon
-
00:04:30If I can help it, because it wasn't just that item
-
00:04:32Before my experience
-
00:04:34With that vacuum cleaner
-
00:04:34I had had several
-
00:04:36Princess, buying printers and other electronic items on Amazon with extended warranty
-
00:04:42And I've had the same thing happened to me where they make me wait for the original product warranty to expire before the additional warranty that that I bought even kicked in, even though the listing before
-
00:04:56I bought, it said that it would kick in on the first day to cover the product
-
00:05:00So that was a false advertisement right there, which I brought it up to them and they didn't care
-
00:05:03So I will never ever waste money on those extended warranty again, from Amazon
-
00:05:09And they never and then ended up never replacing or fixing or refunding
-
00:05:15My money for the broken
-
00:05:17Vacuum cleaner or sending me a new one or fix it for me
-
00:05:20They said that I have to ship D, vacuum cleaner to some third-party repair facility that was gun
-
00:05:29And I looked into it and the cost to ship that vacuum cleaner to that facility cost me more than the vacuum cleaner itself
-
00:05:36So, why would I do that? And then you're responsible for shipping for the shipping fee, from the facility, back to you
-
00:05:42So then again, I would rather go out and buy to vacuum cleaners for that price rather than getting a refurbished vacuum cleaner that I have to then again, pay twice for so
-
00:05:54No, thank you
-
00:05:55And don't even bother buying designer items on Amazon either
-
00:05:59There is no way to guarantee that they are authentic
-
00:06:02I think I mean, to me that's like a total no-brainer, but maybe some people are more courageous than Me and they actually go online and buy high-end expensive
-
00:06:14Designer items on a website
-
00:06:17The third-party website like Amazon
-
00:06:19I also do not buy food items on Amazon
-
00:06:22Either there was a documentary and I forgot what channel it was on, but I'm sure you can Google it and go on YouTube, and if I find it on YouTube, I will add that link down
-
00:06:30in the podcast Resource page, so you can have access to that
-
00:06:34And the documentary shows that they're there were a seller's that were dumpster diving for food, stuff, food, supplements, and cosmetics items from retailers backdoor dumpsters, and then selling those items on Amazon
-
00:06:48You why would you ever need to buy food items from Amazon? Anyways, most local grocery stores now have apps and available grocery delivery services
